I just started using this thanks to this web site and found it to be very useful.

You create a central circle with a word in it, and off that you have rectangle nodes, each of which can have child nodes. You can have "graphical links" (ie arrows) between nodes and clouds to group related items.

It does a lot though I might have like to be able to link a child node to 2 parent nodes, which is not possible.

Good free tool though. I now use it for my daily and weekly to-do list.

I have been using FreeMind for a while now for keeping track of my ideas and tasks and for taking notes. I find the mind map concept to be very useful for taking notes (e.g a course), individual ideation, brainstorming sessions or keeping track of your tasks and objectives and I believe that FreeMind does a very good job at implementing it. One thing I miss in this application is the possibility of sharing the maps over a central repository. I would like that since I work on more than one PC and I need to copy my maps around in every location.

FreeMind is a great tool for outlining, brainstorming, and task status
monitoring. and because it's written in Java, it's cross-platform, which is very
rare. as for working in multiple locations, i now carry my maps on a USBstick
along with the app itself so all i need is a JVM and i can work on my stuff.

great replacement for MindJet Mindmanager

I starting using FreeMind after using MindJet for a while. It was very easy to make the transition and I am completely satisfied with the transition.

I a using FreeMind for a few years now. Personal to plan trips and to get thoughts together. Helping kids with it to get their thoughts about a subject in plan. Really LOVE it!
