Foxit is a free, multilingual PDF reader that provides an alternative to Adobe Acrobat Reader that is lightweight and easy on your resources. Many people who use Adobe need a reader but would prefer one that doesn't tie up their processes and choke their computer's speed.
You may want to install the toolbar, an option you are offered during installation. It is a lot like the Windows XP toolbar but is highly customizable, which can make your computer much easier to work with.
Foxit does have a lot of advantages once you get past the installation phase. It has tabbed reading, measuring tools, auto-scrolling and gives you editing features like highlighting, hyperlink creation and commenting. The commenting feature is particularly useful when you are sharing documents with friends or colleagues and would like to communicate ideas or emphasize certain verbiage. Foxit also lets you view a PDF text-only and you get watermark-free printing.
Foxit cannot create PDF files and it tends to nag you to add features, some of which are free. It will open PDFs and let you move about freely within them but occasionally will become unresponsive or sluggish.
