KeePass is an open source password manager. Once you begin using this KeePass you'll need only one master password to unlock its database and you don't even have to remember that one. If you prefer, you get the chance to make a disk-key to unlock the program. For extra security, you can choose to open KeePass with both the master password and the disk-key. The databases use the most secure encryption algorithms at this time, AES and Twofish; it would take thousands of years to break into your database even using multiple computers.
KeePass has many advantages in the way it can be used. It can be made portable by carrying it on a flashdrive; it will run on Windows systems without requiring installation. It stores nothing on your system, creates no new registry keys or initialization files in the Windows directory.
If you'd like, you can organize your passwords into groups, assign them icons, even set up auto-paste functions. A built in search function allows you to search for a password in case you need to access it.
Working with KeePass is fairly simple and forthright. It takes a bit of time to fill in all the required fields but adding a password is just a matter of clicking a button on the toolbar. As you enter your chosen password a security bar tells you how safe the word will be. You can keep it, change it or use the random password generator.
If you like to have hard copies of your important passwords, KeePass allows you to export them to TXT, HTML, CSV or SML files.
